“God Is The Super “SON”day Champion!”

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus, our blessed hope! As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, I was praying about what the Lord would have me share with you this week, and I believe that what He wants you to know is that God is the Super “SON”day Champion!  You may say, “Hold on there again, Pastor Willie, how do you know that this Sunday God will be the champion?” I know because God said so. In Revelation chapter 11:15 at the beginning of the seventh trumpet judgment the Bible tells us, “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" 16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: "We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.”

This Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday, one of the most important, or at least the most widely watched athletic events of the year. Super Bowl Sunday has become perhaps the largest of the January or February holidays. The teams are focused on the game that’s coming up. The fans in the stands and the viewers facing their television sets are focused on the game. The advertisers are focused on this event.
But by bedtime this event will be over.  It won’t be the Philadelphia Eagles or the New England Patriots who will be crowned as the ultimate champions.  It will be Jesus Christ who will be crowned as the Super “SON”day reigning Champion. The Super Bowl is not life but an entertaining diversion from real life.  There is a call for you and me that we need to “Come Into Focus on Super Bowl Sunday”. I am not suggesting that we focus on the Super Bowl but on the all-knowing, all-encompassing, all-powerful, mighty God, and King of Kings!!! And that is King Jesus!

This Sunday we at Immanuel will celebrate Super “SON”day!  The festivities begin Sunday morning at 9:30 with Super Sonday School, then a wonderful worship service at 10:45, followed by a Terrific Tailgate Food and Fellowship (Covered Dish Luncheon).  I know that you are already making plans to prepare your favorite delicious dishes that everyone will enjoy.  Please prepare enough for yourself and another family, because we hope to have lots of visitors who will discover the miracle of Immanuel on Super Sonday.  I want you to begin to pray that God would reveal to you someone who needs to be in Sunday School and in the church service this Sunday.  Invite them to come and be introduced to your church family and the good news of our Lord and Savior.

                                                     In Christ Jesus Forever,
                                                     Pastor Willie

Mrs. Pearl R. Pierce

August 26, 1921 - January 25, 2005

“For we who have believed do enter into rest.”
Hebrews 4:3

Dear Members of Immanuel Baptist Church,
God is good and God’s people are good!  And nowhere is this demonstrated more clearly than at Immanuel.  Last March I was given three months to live and this is February and I am getting better each day.  The Bible says that by Jesus’ stripes we are healed and all of your prayers helped to make this a reality for me.
Words can never begin to express my gratitude to you for the myriad of things you have done for me during my battle with cancer.  The disease and treatment are so difficult in themselves but you strengthened me.  Your many generosities are overwhelming and I give you my thanks from the bottom of my heart.
May God bless each one of you, Mary Anne McLellan

I just want to thank everyone who was praying for the youth and their leaders as we traveled to Pigeon Forge for the Chillipepper Conference.  I also want to thank Mrs. Joyce Hall for supplying snacks for all the Immanuel youth for that weekend.  Also, thanks to Mr. Blaney Howle for sending his famous chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches for the youth to enjoy.
February 11 - 13, the youth will be going to Winterplace, West Virginia, to enjoy snow skiing while setting aside time for God’s Word through devotionals and Bible study.
On Tuesday, February 22, Immanuel’s youth will be leading a citywide Youth Rally here at Immanuel.  Our youth feel the need to reach out to other youth in our city.  This will be a night of praise and worship, devotionals, games, fellowship, and food.  Please pray for our youth as they make plans for this event.
The weekend of March 18 - 20 will be an intense weekend of Bible study, praise and worship, and a gathering together of youth from ten area churches for a “Disciple Now Weekend”.
Please continue to pray for our youth that they will experience spiritual growth in a mighty way.  Please pray for me as I lead these youth and as I participate in the mission trip to Romania.
Serving our Loving Lord,  Emily Gamble
