“The Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread: and when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, ‘Take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me.’
“After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying,, ‘This is the new testament in My blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me.’”                                            I Corinthians 11:24, 25

“Coming Alive In 2005 Is In Full Swing!”

Glory to God in the wonderful Name which is above every name.  Yes, a heartfelt greeting in that precious Name of Jesus! It is always a pleasure to communicate with you. I want to give you an update on all of the great things that have been going on since my last letter.

As I shared with you last time, I am so excited about the year 2005! I believe that this will be a breakthrough year for Immanuel Baptist Church.  MHS (Monday Home Security) on Monday nights began Monday night, January 10,, with a good group of people.  I was very impressed with our deacons and Sunday School teachers who came out to make visits to some of our members who are homebound, those sick in the hospitals, and those who just needed some encouragement. We also visited people who need a fresh touch from Jesus.  It was a great night and I believe the Lord was blessed by the effort.  Don’t forget that every Monday night we meet at 6:45 in the Welcome Center, pray, then go out to minister for Christ.  Everyone is invited to participate in this ministry.

Our message series “Living the Lord’s Prayer” on Sunday nights is going so well. And, our Wednesday nights have been great with a marvelous supper menu, fantastic fellowship, and a powerful prayer meeting.  Our Sunday morning sermon series “Coming Alive in 2005”, has been a blessing and I sense a stirring of the Spirit. I know that the Lord truly desires that we come alive this year to what God wants for us as individuals and what He wants for us as a church.

You may have heard by now that Immanuel Baptist Church will begin a new advertising and outreach approach within the next few days.  Immanuel will have billboards around town according to the following schedule.  There will be one on Second Loop Road beginning January 24; South Cashua Drive beginning February 28; and South Irby Street at Super Walmart beginning March 21.

Our Sunday School is gearing up for our “Super Sonday Celebration” on Sunday, February 6, when we hope to have 200 people in Sunday School.  If you are taking the time to read this letter, I want you to begin to pray that God would reveal to you someone who needs to be in Sunday School and the church service on Sunday, February 6.   This will be a great time to introduce Immanuel to your friends, family, and neighbors.  We will begin with Super Sonday School at 9:30, then a wonderful worship service at 10:45, followed by a Terrific Tailgate Food and Fellowship that will be second to none.  I know that you are already making plans to prepare your favorite delicious dishes that everyone will love. Please make enough for yourself and another family, because we hope to have lots of visitors who will discover the miracle of Immanuel on Super Sonday.  Tell your friends they can come in their jeans and favorite sports team colors.  This will be a great day if we all do our part.  I can hardly wait to see you there!  I am so EXCITED!!

In the last edition of The ImmanueLight, an announcement was made about Emily Gamble going with a mission team from the Florence Baptist Association to Romania March 3 - 15.  The Kings Academy is also sending out mission teams from their school with two of Immanuel’s youth participating in these groups.  Brandon Grove will be traveling to Mexico to work on a mission team March 14 - 18.  Sarah Dillenbeck will be on a team in Bosnia March 11 - 18.  Emily, Brandon, and Sarah are each responsible for raising the money necessary to pay their part of their trip (air fare, etc.)  Along with your prayers, they would appreciate financial assistance to make their trip a reality.  Please make your check to Immanuel Baptist Church and designate it for any or all of the three who will be serving as “short term missionaries”.  All donations are tax deductible.

Dear Immanuel Family,
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and the New Year will be a happy and healthy one.  Thank you for your many cards and prayers.                                        In Christian Love, Louise O’Connor

Dear Immanuel Members,
Thank you so much for the delicious meal you sent to our family.  Edna McNeill and Lib Isgett helped us so much in preparing and serving the meal.  Mother is finally at peace after suffering so long.  She will be missed so, but our God will give us strength.  She loved all of you so much.  Thank you for caring.

As most of you know, the youth have a very busy schedule for January and February.  Nineteen youth and five chaperones will be leaving at 10:00 a.m. this Friday, January 21, to attend the Chillipepper Conference in Pigeon Forge, TN.  The conference’s purpose is to motivate the youth and encourage them in their walk with Christ.  We will be returning on Sunday, January 23.
Also, February 11 - 13, the youth will be heading out to Winterplace, West Virginia, to enjoy snow skiing while digging deep into God’s Word through devotionals and Bible study.
On Tuesday, February 22, Immanuel’s youth will be leading a citywide Youth Rally here at Immanuel.  Our youth feel the need to reach out to other youth in our city.  This will be a night of praise and worship, devotionals, games, fellowship, and food.  Please pray for our youth as they make plans for this event.
As their Youth Minister, I ask that you be in prayer during these months and pray especially for our youth that God’s will be done in each endeavor.  Please pray for their safety and that God would prepare their hearts that they may respond as He speaks to them.                                God’s blessings to each of you, Emily Gamble
