A WORD FROM WILLIE
 “Coming Alive In 2005”

              Greetings in the wonderful Name of the One who is going to make Immanuel Baptist Church come alive in 2005! As we are closing out 2004, I believe that we have so much to look forward to here at Immanuel in 2005! I believe that we are going to see God do great and wonderful things in the lives of His people.

               I want to begin by saying how wonderful the “Hanging of the Green”, “3 Wise Men and a Baby” and the “Daycare Christmas Program” all were.  We have so many talented children, youth, and adults here at Immanuel.  Thanks to everyone who helped make these programs so special.  Special thanks to the Children’s Choir, Adult Choir, Brother Gerald Frederick, Polly Howle, Cecelia Burbage, Bernie Thornton, Harriet Evans, Ginny Harbin, the daycare crew, the instrumentalists, sound-techs, and all the people who made goodies for the fellowships. Thanks to the entire church family for your help in adorning our church sanctuary for the Christmas Season. If I continued on with thanks, I would not have enough room for this article. I just want to say a big THANK YOU!!! for making these Christmas events possible.

               I also want to say a big thank you to all of you who have been so supportive and encouraging this past year.  As many of you know, this past year has been a little tough with Jan’s automobile accident and her two medical operations.  I am so proud of her because there were many Sundays and Wednesdays that she was in great pain and could hardly stand up, yet she was faithful to the Lord.  A lot of you did not know this because she did not want you to worry about her.  I believe that we made it through this past year because of your prayers, kind words, calls, cards and, of course….meals. I feel like the most blessed pastor in the whole world.  THANK YOU!!! for being such a loving and caring congregation.

               I want to conclude with saying a big THANK YOU!!! to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all He has done for me, my family, and this church family. Thank you, Lord, for blessing me in every area of my life, from the salvation that You give to this great church. I also want to thank You for what You are going to do in making this church come alive in 2005. I so excited about what You are going to do in the lives of all of Your people here at Immanuel and that includes me too, Lord!

              Thanks for allowing me to take a moment to praise the Lord.  I hope all of you have a beautiful and blessed Christmas and great New Year. Let us live our lives like Mary did when the Angel came to her and told her that she would carry the Christ Child. “Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word."  May we live our lives according to God’s Word!

                                                  Pastor Willie

 WHAT IS “MONDAY HOME SECURITY”?
               Beginning Monday, January 3, 2005, Immanuel Church will begin an Outreach Ministry called “Monday Home Security” that will be headed up especially through our Sunday School Department.  All Sunday School classes will be asked to make visits to members who have not been involved in Sunday School recently for whatever reason it may be.  Keeping in touch with class members and encouraging them to be involved in the church life at Immanuel will be a key purpose.  Prospects who are new in the community or have visited Immanuel Church searching for a new church home will also be visited.  Plan now to become involved in this Outreach Ministry.  Keep alert of those around you and give encouragement to them to be a part of the Immanuel Church Family.  There will be more information about “Monday Home Security”  as we enter 2005.

A CHRISTMAS THOUGHT

Christmas is more than a day at the end of the year;
More than a day of joy and good cheer.
Christmas is really God’s pattern of living
To be followed each day by unselfish giving.
Then peace on earth will come to stay
When we live Christmas every day.
Love, peace, and happiness can be
found only in Christ Jesus.
