“Jesus Calms The Storms Of Life”
Greeting in the Wonderful Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Watching Hurricanes Charlie, Frances, and Ivan bear down on Florida was a terrible sight to see. We all watched Ivan cut through the Caribbean, Cuba, Mobile, Alabama, Pensacola, Florida, and saw the flooding that was taking place because some areas were getting rain, rain, and more rain. I couldn’t believe Wednesday night just hours before Ivan hit when the Weather Channel was reporting waves of over fifty feet. Can you imagine? That was one serious storm. The aftermath of Ivan made the Florida coast look like a war zone.
Last Sunday I spoke on the subject of how Jesus calms the most severe storms, especially the storms in our lives. Luke 8:22-25 “22 Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.” And they launched out. 23 But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. 24 And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” They had a crisis on their hands. The ship was full of water, the waves were as high as the boat, and they were headed for the bottom of the sea unless the storm ceased. Have you ever felt like this? The storms of life may be blowing so hard you are about to sink because you can’t handle the winds and rain anymore. The disciples experienced what you are going through. They didn’t think they were going to make it. This was a serious crisis confronting them.
I don’t know a whole lot about being in a boat while a storm is raging, but I do know a little bit about being in a storm and not knowing when the winds are going to cease. I also know that when I am in a storm, the only thing to do is call on Jesus! If you call on Jesus, He will rebuke the wind and the raging of the water, and they will cease, and there will be calm. Jesus came through for the disciples. He calmed the storm and spared their lives. He will calm your storms and give you peace of mind.
If you are going through a storm, if you’re facing some difficulties, take them to Jesus! Look to the One who can bring calm to your troubled seas. Jesus can take the darkest situations you’re facing and turn them into the brightest blessings you could ever experience.
Take your storms to Jesus. He can calm the storms of life.
